Agnes E. “Aggie” Fleagle, 87 of Cedar Rapids died Monday June 29, 2009 at Mercy Medial Center after a short illness. Funeral Mass: 10:00 AM on Thursday at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Rev. David Ambrosy will officiate. Burial at St. John’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday where there will be a vigil service at 6:30 PM. Friends may also call at the Church after 9:00 AM on Thursday.
Survivors include two daughters, Ginger (Steve) Hull and Sherry Decker both of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by a grandson, Scott (Stacie) Hull of Cedar Rapids and two great grandchildren, Alexis and Riley. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Frank and Jerry Navratil and two sisters, Mary Burlingham and Fran Crump.
Agnes was born on Dec. 26, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Frank and Frances Popelka Navratil. She graduated from St. Wenceslaus Catholic High School where she enjoyed playing basketball. She married LaVerne B. " Buff'" Fleagle on Dec. 1, 1942 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2004. Agnes was the owner and operator of the White Elephant for 16 years, retiring in 1986. She was a faithful member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed golf, crocheting, watching sports and especially time spent with her many friends and beloved family.
Memorial donations may be given to the St. Matthew’s Renovation and Renewal Project.
