Alice was a close friend of my mother's, Marjorie Peet Lacock. Until the last year or so when I lost touch with Alice, it was always a joy talking with her several times a year on the telephone, and especially receiving her packages of news clippings from the local papers. She had a remarkable memory for names and events, and a "talk" with Alice could put a smile on anyone's face. My sincere sympathies to Dale and all her family members.

Dale, You have Mom and my condolences in the loss of Alice. We will always remember her and Merle as we traveled to the Smokie Mts and Washington DC in October 1971 on a 16 day bus trip. We had a lot of fun traveling together. Our prayers are with you.

Dale and family, Alice trained me to be the Billing Clerk at the Rock Island RR in 1968. She was most efficient and delightful to work with. She also checked my work to make sure it was correct and there would be no corrections sent back from Chicago. Lovely lady. I did keep in touch with her by phone after my retirement. Invited her to the RI breakfast but she always told me some other time and don't give up on her. When she moved to Winslow Gardens, I lost track of her. Wish I had known she was there, other RI people are there as well. Her memories of the RI were great to share. I only wish that I had recorded them for the family and myself. Alice was a sweet loving person and always talking about her nieces and others. Glad I had the chance to know her and sorry I didn't find out until today that she had passed. Karen Huerter
