I have many fond memories of coach. On the court he/we were all business! He yelled at us thru a blowhorn. He'd git in your face. We loved it and we were motivated! Off the court he was always a gentleman. Many a time coach gave me a ride home after practice or a late away game. Many fond memories! Best wishes to the family.

Carolyn and I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the Allen family. My earliest recollection of Bob was the summer of 1969, at the Jefferson pool. Bob wanted to teach those kids who either couldn't or didn't want to swim. He was like a magician with them. By the end of the session he would have a class of eager swimmers. As a teacher and a coach, the respect for Bob by his students, and athletes, was always very evident as they would refer to him as either "Mr. or Coach" Allen. Bob is and will always be a part of Jefferson history and may his family find comfort in the knowledge that Bob was a good man and respected by all.

You never know how someone will touch your life. In 1973, I was in his classroom. I don't remember why, because I wasn't a jock and he wasn't one of my teachers. But he took me aside and told me how he sympathized with my situation, regarding gender discrimination at the school. I remember him saying, "when your teammate is running with the football, you protect him." I never forgot him, because no one else at the school was supportive (the jocks openly booed me). It meant a lot to me. It was only two minutes out of his life, but it stayed with me for a life time. Thanks for being there Coach.

Coach Allen was an assistant to Coach Bredeson during our super run to the State baseball Championship in 1961. He was always a strong motivator and a positive supporter to the players. I also enjoyed his presence in basketball.Coach always remembered and embraced students after leaving Jeff and then returning. Coach loved JHawk country and it in turn loved him. Am very sure God already has you coaching.

To Mike Allen, I'm so very sorry for your loss. Your Dad was simply by far the finest coach I ever had. He was indeed a tremendous in your face no nonsense motivator. But he also made it very apparent through his actions how much he truly cared for each and everyone of his players. On a week when the nation mourns the passing of celebrities I rather instead mourn the passing and celebrate the life of my coach, Bob Allen. No man aside from my Dad ever had a more positive lasting impact on my life than him. I'm truly thankful to have known him and I shall miss him very much.

Family of Bob Allen, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Coach Allen was a tremendous motivator not only in the classroom, but also in the weight room, and playing/practice field. I have taught and coached for 25 years and I still use illustrations and examples learned from my found memories of Coach/Teacher, Mr. Allen. To the Allen family - I am a better man for having been coached, both in basketball and life by Mr. Allen. The investment he made in young people was eternal collateral -heavenly treasure. I know you will miss him, but he is not lost - I am convinced he is in heaven now, and a great reunion awaits, for those who know the One who saves.
