Dr. Harold W. Olmsted 88, of 1252 29th Street NE, died Thursday, June 11, 2009, following a long illness. Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Osterhaus of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 AM to service time on Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Surviving to honor his memory are his wife Ada, daughter Susan (Ron) Stookey of Des Moines, step-daughter Cheryl (David) Smith of Central City, and step-son James Waterhouse of Minneapolis, Minnesota, two grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 1 great grandchild, and one step great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Harold was born January 4, 1921, in Clarinda, Iowa, to Earl and Berneice Winters Olmsted. He married Ada Waterhouse on December 9, 1988 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a peacetime US Navy Veteran. He was a Dentist in Cedar Rapids for nearly 40 years retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and enjoyed golf, sporting events, and fishing.
