Raymond D. Fifield, 79, of 8014 Rolling Rd. in Toddville died Saturday June 6, 2009 at St. Lukes Hospital after a short illness. Graveside services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Dunkard Cemetery in Midway. Per Ray’s request there will be no visitation. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie, two daughters, Grace and Debbie, two step-sons, Larry (Pam) Cohn of Springville, and Roland (Sylvia) Massow of Robins, a step-daughter, Susan Godley of Las Vegas, Nevada and a brother, Gaylord of Waterloo. He is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Ray was born on April 26, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Forrest and Effie Kelsey Fifield. He married Marjorie C. Cohn on Nov. 9, 1972 in Marion. Ray worked as a custodian for the Cedar Rapids School System for 25 years, retiring in 1992. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. Ray enjoyed farming, flowers, doing crafts, animals, especially horses and spending time with his beloved family. A memorial fund has been established in Ray’s name.
