Robert Smith Holding
To Marjorie and family, we offer our condolences in honor of a great man indeed..! Bob was a lab tech that I worked with in the 70's and enjoyed every minute of it. Bob was full of great stories, but each story had a great moral to it. Bob was also a great scout leader. My son spent quite a few hours with him and his Webelos group. To say he will be missed is a great understatement. We ask that you cherish the memories of this guy, whom many of us can say that he was indeed .. a great friend .. whether you worked with him or for him. Rest In Peace Bob, we know you are smiling down on us. Bill Lambing Collins Avionics Retired Greenwood, IN

Bob was my first cousin once removed. He and my grandmother, Helen Smith Goble, were sisters. Being ten years younger, I did not know Bob well when I was growing up or later, when I was raising a family, but I do have several memories. Bob rescued me around the age of 4 as I sat on a bumble bee nest; he took me safely back to our farm house. I remember his stopping by my grandparents' home several times while he was attending DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago. And I was intrigued with his working at Collins Radio given my strong interest in flying. I knew Collins was the Cadillac of the avionics devices which were found only on large, expensive aircraft. I got to know Bob better in the last few years and have fond memories of several family reunions and, of course, our cruise on the Mississippi together. We shared a joint interest in family history, an area in which Bob was the expert. I fondly remember some lengthy telephone calls where we just enjoyed each other's company albeit long distance. I had looked forward to many more years of visiting and talking with Bob. We never seemed to run out of things to discuss. But that is not to be. I am glad I had the opportunity to get to know him better and count him as a favorite relative. Thinking of Bob and Bob's family,
