Memorial
Mildred L. Dillon, 95, a resident of the Methwick Community, died May 21, 2009 following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Chaplain Paul Monska will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at White Pigeon Cemetery, North English, Iowa.
Surviving are her sister Marjorie Siggins and husband Kenneth of Lisbon, two brothers-in-law Don Finch of Silvis, IL, and John Fleck of Des Moines, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Inez Longerbeam and husband Seward, Doris Finch, Dorothy Keener and husband William, and Betty Fleck.
Mildred Louise Dillon was born October 14, 1913 in Webster, IA the daughter of John V. and Etta M. (Fattig) Dillon. She served her country honorably during WWII in the United States Army as a nurse, being discharged with the rank of Captain. She was very proud of her four years of service in the South Pacific. Following her military service she was employed for 26 years with the Veterans Administration Hospitals. She worked at hospitals in Des Moines, Minneapolis, and Denver. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and traveling throughout several states and countries throughout the world. She was a member of NARFE Chapter 133, Glen Echo Christian Church in Des Moines, Broadlawns Alumni, WWII Memorial and Military Women’s Memorial. Mildred will forever be remembered for her kind and giving personality, and her spirit of consistently helping others. She was a loving sister, aunt, and cousin who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Memorial donations in Mildred’s honor may be made to Iowa Hospice.
