Floyd L. Cordes
Mom sends her special thoughts, as one of Floyd's last cousins. She remembers Hooker with many fond memories. And I remember his humor and kindness throughout the years as he and Uncles Oscar and Virtus, and Mom bantered. Sent on behalf of Vera Niebuhr by daughter, Sheryl

Hooker has been a great neighbor - always bringing over his garden grown tomatoes and peppers. We will so miss his visits with his 2 lovable dogs - Sara & Midge. May he rest in peace.

I am sorry a good man is gone. I always called him "the gentle giant" when we worked at Link-Belt. Such a nice man.

Hooker was the best neighbor anyone could ask for. We loved sharing our summer afternoons sitting outside with him and his girls Sara and Midge. Hooker was someone who would do anything for you and made his mark in our lives and many others. We will miss you!

Leann, Scott, Lindsey and Elise - Your memories of what a wonderful man your Uncle Bud was will live with you forever. May you find peace and happiness in all of the times you helped him and remember the daily visits of what a true family member is. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Saturday mornings always began with a 7 a.m. phone call. Ken and Hooker turns each week calling and then talking for l hour or more. The calls will be greatly missed. I (Bev) did not know Hooker well, but thoroughly enjoyed stories of days gone by. Hooker planting and growing beautiful tomatoes for "Katie". Ken and Hooker cooking for the VFW. Playing jokes on each other. Tearing something apart and then rebuilding it. Hooker, Merna, Ken and JoAnn and their close friendship... I am so glad that we were able to have a "surprise" birthday party for Ken and Hooker at VFW last summer for them both. I know how much it meant to both of them. Hookers smile, sense of humor, friendship & love, will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We all have a special angel in heaven, may he rest in peace.

I just heard of Hookers passing yesterday (May 2). I am so sorry to have missed the funeral. He was a wonderful man who grew up next to my Grandparents farm where I now live. My dad (Marv) and Hooker were lifelong friends and I have many fond childhood memories of him and Myrna. A year or so ago(maybe longer, time flies) he stopped at our place and we were able to have a nice chat. He said at that time it would be his last trip to Guernsey due to health concerns. He was always willing to help a friend in need, I can't say that I've ever met a more giving person. He will be greatly missed.
