Irene E. Grill, 93, a resident of Bickford Cottage, was called by the Lord into his presence on April 6, 2009. Funeral Mass will take place 9:30 AM on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Church. Rev. Christopher Podhajsky will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.

Survivors include her daughter Theresa Trebes of Marion; nieces and nephews Joan Richards of Fallon, NV, Jim (Carmen) Schablitsky of Lakeville, MN, Duane (Marlene) Ramsay of Las Vegas, NV, Mike (Jannine) Matthews of Tucson, AZ, and Cheryl (Rod) Todd of St. Paul, MN; numerous great nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog Bubba.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and several brothers and sisters.

Irene Elsie Grill was born June 17, 1915 in Faribault, MN the daughter of Joseph and Lousie (Paquett) Schablitzky. She was employed at the woolen mills in Faribault, and later in food service at La Salle High School in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and was involved with some in the women’s clubs at the church.

The family would like to extend special thanks to friends John and Vivian Herde, and Rita Holmes who were there for her when she needed them the most, and to the wonderful staff at Bickford Cottage for their care to Irene.

Memorial donations in Irene’s honor may be made to the Cedar Valley Humane Society, or to the Animal Welfare Foundation of Iowa.
