Eleanor Mae Hickle, 92, of 1334 O Ave NE, died Thursday March 19, 2009 in the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a long illness. Memorial services: 3:00 p.m. Saturday March 28, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Sister Mary Lou Podzimek. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her children, Richard Hickle and Sarena Hickle both of Cedar Rapids, a sister, Arlene Hergenrather of Oregon, 6 grandchildren and spouses, 2 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great grandson, Brendyn Hickle and a soon to be great granddaughter, Mayeleigh Morris. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, siblings, Charles, Lawrence, Sarah, Gordon, Earl, Gertrude, Roberta, Irma, and two infant siblings.

Eleanor was born October 1, 1916 to George and Lizzie Whipple. She married Cecil E. Hickle on August 20, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. She was a member of Echo Hill Church and Widow of Widowers Group. She was a volunteer for the Iowa Department of Transportation and St. Luke’s Hospital. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
