Ann Buroker, 71, of 3608 Terrace Hill Dr. NE died Monday March 9, 2009 at her home of cancer. Services will be at 10:30 AM on Friday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Rev. Harlan Gillespie and Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Inurnment will be at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church columbarium. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday.

Survivors include her husband, Gayle, a daughter, Beth (David) Bock of Lenexa, Kansas and two sons, Garret of Cedar Rapids and Jay (Deb) of Omaha, Nebraska and one brother, Jack (Jean) Oberholtzer of Huntington, Indiana. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lauren and Cameron Bock and Ella and Nathan Buroker. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ann was born on Dec. 8. 1937 in Richmond, Indiana the daughter of Obie and Ruth Oberholtzer. She graduated from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana with an R.N. degree. She married Gayle E. Buroker on April 25, 1959 in Richmond, Indiana. Ann was a homemaker and the church librarian at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for 21 years, retiring in 2001. She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s where she was active on many committees such as Missions and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed playing bridge, crafts, antiques, traveling, bicycling and especially time spent with her friends and beloved family.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or the Hospice of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Iowa Blood and Cancer Care, Hospice of Mercy, her P.E.O. sisters and many friends for their love and support.
