Greg, My husband and I and our two young sons sit in front of you at 10:30 mass at All Saints many Sundays. I also used to work for you at the Amalgamated on the SE side of town in the early 1990s. I always thought it was so wonderful that your son and daughter joined you for church each Sunday. I remember your son shaking hands with my seven year old son during the sign of peace and how Conlon smiled at him. Though we did not know Conlon, he was clearly a wonderful young man. I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot fathom the pain of what you are going through at this time. You and your entire family are in our prayers. Rebecca & Bill Kilburg, Alexander and Jackson

Anne, Greg and Anna, My prayers and thoughts are with you so that the sadness and loss that rips at your heart can eventually be mended through the love you share and faith in the ability of each of us to be Christ to one another. I join our community of Faith in praying that God's Grace provide for eternal salvation for Conlon. The mystery and power of God's Grace is unfathomable and I pray that your family is touched by God's Grace. "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39)

Dear Anne, Greg, & Anna, I am so very sorry for your loss. Conlon was such a great kid. In the over 10 years I've known Conlon he always was such a great kid. I can think of few (if any) children, other than Conlon, who I've watched grow up for as long, and at as many venues, who hasn't on more than one occassion shown a less attractive side of himself. On more than one Sunday when my kids lack of interest in the homily was obvious to all, I would see Conlon sitting with Greg and Anna in a nearby pew. Conlon was able to hide any restlessness he may have felt. On more than one occassion I was envious at how well behaved Conlon at mass. Whether it was exchanging the sign of peace, or at a school activity, when I had eye contact with Conlon it brought a smile to my face, and Conlon always responded with a smile. It was just a little over a week ago that Ryan was singing Conlon's praises. Conlon had loaned Ryan his "graphic novel" of the 2008 election. I mistakenly assumed Conlon shared his Dad's love of the GOP. Ryan let me know I was soo wrong. He replied no Conlon's cool (sorry Greg, but in Ryan's eyes being a McCain fan and cool are mutually exclusive) Ryan proudly relayed Conlon's a big Obama supporter. The rest of the evening Ryan talked about Conlon and Conlon's Obama comic book. Conlon will be missed by more people than you can imagine.

Anne, Greg & Anna, I am so sorry for your tremendous loss. Although Joe & Conlon have not kept in contact in recent years, only passing through the halls and saying hi, Joe shared his younger years with Conlon. When he was at our house for Joe's birthday party the kids were out on the deck. A butterfly came by and landed on Conlon's shoulder. The other kids watched as Conlon smiled and gently swept it away only for it to return again and again. It was beautiful. My husband has a hard time keeping track of Joe's friends but I want to let you know he never forgot that moment and always referred to Conlon as "Conlon the butterfly boy". He told me that day that Conlon was the sweetest most gentle boy he had ever seen and even the butterfly knew it. Watching Conlon grow up was a privilege. I remember the day that Anna arrived at childcare. Conlon had his hand on her back and watched over to make sure she was okay and if she needed something but was too shy to say, he would come over and tell me his "little sister" needed something. You're all in our prayers and may God bless your family in helping you heal.

Greg, Anne and Anna, my heart goes out to all of you for the loss of your son, Conlon. I remember many times babysitting for him during his first year how sweet he was. There are no words that can console you at this time, and I am so sorry for all of you. I will be sending some pictures to you of the times I babysat for him during his first year. I apologize for not being there but am out of town, and it saddens me even further not to be able to attend his services. You are in my prayers as is Conlon. He is your Angel watching over you now. Anne, this is your cousin Kathy from Dallas. I am so saddened to hear about Conlon. I remember seeing him as a little boy. Such a beautiful child! I never got to see you as much as your sisters in Dubuque, when I would come with my family to visit my folks in Chicago. I wish that I had seen more of Conlon and Anna. I have my own 16 year old-- a daughter named Nikki. I told her about Conlon and just hugged her even tighter. All the love that a cousin could give and then some! Holly also sends her love!

Anne and Gregory, We were so sorry to hear of the loss of your handsome son, Conlon. Our 18-month-old son, Linus passed away last February and is also buried at Cedar Memorial. You are at the beginning of a long and difficult journey. At times, you will feel very alone, but we want you to know that support is out there. We have found comfort in counseling and support groups. The support group that would most fit you is called Compassionate Friends and is located in Dubuque. Most of the people that attend that support group have lost teenage to adult children such as you. Good luck to you and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
