** Edwin L. “Ed” Holets, 93 of Northbrook Manor died there on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 from complications of old age. Services at 9:00 AM on Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 8:30 AM on Saturday. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include two nephews, Allan and Lyle Chia. He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant son Gary and two sisters, Viola Ciha and Charlotte Faltis.
Ed was born on Sept. 13, 1915 in Swisher, the son of Charles and Agnes Jakne Holets. He married Edith M. Arnold on Nov. 4, 1955 in Marion. She died in 1998. Ed was a tool maker at Cherry Burrell for 15 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church and the Gas Engine Club. Ed enjoyed traveling with his wife, jewelry making, building and collecting small engines, attending the Old Threshers Reunion, going to antique engine shows at Ushers Ferry and puttering in his garage. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Camp Courageous in Ed’s name.
