Waldron W. “Hal” Kemp, 90, of 1592 Matterhorn Drive NE, died February 10, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness. Memorial services will take place at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 19, 2009 at First Lutheran Church. Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum and Pastor Dan Kolander will officiate. Friends may call Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Geraldine; as well as numerous relatives and close friends.

Waldron Weers Kemp was born August 18, 1918 in Alta Vista, the son of Carl and Clara Kemp. He graduated from New Hampton High School and attended the University of Iowa before serving in the Army Air Force until 1947. He later graduated from the American Electronics Institute in Hollywood, CA. He married Geraldine Wachholz on August 4, 1947, in Los Angeles, CA. He was a Logistics Engineer for Hughes Aircraft before moving to Cedar Rapids where he retired from Universal Engineering as a technical writer. He was a member of First Lutheran Church where he served as a deacon, and visited the homebound. He was a member of Theta XI fraternity, Golden Kiwanis, American Legion and formerly an associate member of the American Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Hal’s name may be made to First Lutheran Church.
