Memorial

Norma Jean Plagmann, 75, a resident of Meth-Wick Community, died there Thursday February 5, 2009 following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cedar Hills Community Church, where visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Rev. Leonard Ranson will officiate. Burial: Marengo Cemetery, Marengo. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Linnan (Mike) Ryan of Cedar Rapids, Holly Plagmann of Des Moines and a son, Von Plagmann of Cedar Rapids, a sister, Lois Nichols of Jefferson City, Missouri, four grandchildren, Jolynn, Matt, Carley and Kyle and two great grandchildren, Jackson and Carter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Plagmann, her parents, two brothers and a sister.
Norma was born January 7, 1934 in Fernald, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Hazel Johnson. Norma and Earl were married on September 13, 1953 in Ames and made their home in Cedar Rapids since 1958. For many years Norma was a full-time mother and homemaker while enjoying many creative talents and hobbies. Norma became a business woman and entrepreneur. She was a charter member of Cedar Hills Community Church where she was the first female deacon. She was active in the choir and was on many church committees. She was a woman who truly lived her faith by her kindness to others. She enjoyed playing bridge and did so with the same group for over fifty years. Norma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Ridgeview Assisted Living and The Woodlands of Meth-Wick Community.
