John Robert Kucera

Carol, I know you remember me. I worked with Kuch in HR and was friends with your mom and brother. John always stopped to visit with me. I retired 7-1-04 and went to work PT with the RWDSU Local 110 as Office Manager. It has been rewarding to be on the other side. Bob always called us on New Year's Day to visit. It is hard to realize he left us 2/3/07 and John 2/2/09. Sincere condolences Nancy

Carol, Tim and Ethan, Even though this is a very difficult time for you, we hope you can take solace in the great memories that you have of Johnny. He was a sweet man who was always quick to laugh, help or give whatever he could. His love for Raz knew no bounds, and the last time we talked to him, he eagerly bragged about his grandkids. Family was very important to him, and the love that he had for all of you was obvious. Although, his true love was probably Raz :-) Remember all the big feasts at the farm, like the BBQs or the Thanksgiving dinners? Johnny would always fall asleep after a while. One year, Sean and I dressed him up a bit with Grandma's clothes and took pictures of him. The last time we saw him, I told him what we'd done. He said, "I know, but you guys were having so much fun, I thought I'd let you play." That's the wonderful kind of guy Johnny was and the kind of memories that will always make me smile when I think of him.

It was with much sadness when we learned of John's passing. He was such fun to have around the resort all of those years. He liked to make people smile. Our hearts and prayers are with the Family in these solemn times. I'm sure your hearts are filled with wonderful times. It seems so very fitting to send a Memorial Gift to the Humane Society. I am so saddened to learn of Kuch's passing. I remember all the good chats we had outside Quaker while having a smoke. He always was upbeat and had a super sense of humor. He will surely be missed by many. I am glad I had a chance to know John. My thoughts and prayers are with those he leaves behind.

John and I were best friends in High School. We roomed together at Ellsworth. He was a part of our wedding. After we moved to Des Moines we didn't see each other as much as either one of us liked. The last time I saw John was at my Mom's funeral. Tom from Denver called me yesterday and told me the news. It was really sad to here of John's passing. He would do anything for you, loved his family and was a great friend. Time sees to get away sometimes. This is one of those times. You are missed John. See you on the other side. November 9, 2009
