John Robert Kucera, 55, of Mt. Vernon, died unexpectedly, Monday, February 2, 2009, at his home. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday. There will be no services.

Survivors include his son Michael (Megan) of Cedar Rapids, two grandchildren, Avery, and Deacon, his sister Carol (Tim) Carlson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a nephew Ethan Carlson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John was born December 9, 1953 in Cedar Rapids to Robert and Dorothy Heicksen Kucera. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, and attended Ellsworth Community College. He was employed at Quaker Oats for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, nature, and his beloved siberian husky Raz-ma-taz.

John was loved deeply as a father, son, brother, grandpa, and uncle.
