Memorial

Birdie Emily McGuire, 88, of 411 31st St. SE. died Saturday Jan. 31, 2009 at the Hiawatha Care Center after a short illness. Services at 11 AM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday.

Survivors include her husband, Dick, and a son, David (Mary Beth) of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Nadine.

Birdie was born on Aug. 20, 1920 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph J. and Rose Marie Richter Fiala. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. Birdie married Howard R. “Dick” McGuire on July 26, 1946 in Cedar Rapids. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Birdie enjoyed gardening, flowers and especially spending time with her beloved family. Her love as a wonderful wife and mother will forever live on in our hearts.
