Memorial

William R. Kreutzer, 79, of 3410 E Ave. NW died Friday Jan. 30, 2009 at St. Lukes Hospital after a short illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Laura Smith will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday.
Survivors include a son, Bill Jr. and special friend, Jennifer Buhrman of Cedar Rapids, three sisters, Kate Howrey of Cedar Rapids, Marilyn (Ray) Fuller of Hiawatha and Mona (Robert) Paul of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by a grandson, Michael, of Cedar Rapids, three sisters-in-law, Thelma Kreutzer of Portland, Oregon, Beverly Kreutzer of Marion and Anita Kreutzer of Mesa, Arizona, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Stanley, LaVerne, and Leland and his pet dog, Sidney.
Bill was born on Sept. 17, 1929 in Iowa City, the son of William A. and Lucille M. (Kvach) Kreutzer. He married Betty J. Lemon on Oct. 2, 1955 at St. James United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2004. Bill was a clerk for the Rock Island and C&NW Railroads for 42 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, and the Cedar Rapids Baseball Booster Club. Bill was an avid Hawkeye and Jeff Gordon fan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Cedar Valley Humane Society in Bill’s name. The family would like to give a special thank you to Bruce, Amber and the entire staff at St. Luke’s Hospice for the wonderful care given to Bill.
