Virginia E. Foster, 82, of 5823 1st Ave. SW died on Friday Jan. 30, 2009 at her home after a long illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Monday.
Survivors include two sons; Larry (Cindy), and Jeff (Jackie) and a daughter, Anna “Cathy” Foster all of Cedar Rapids, two sisters, Betty Eden of North Liberty and Lucy Drake of Marion and one brother, Gerald Johnston of Pinellas Park, Florida. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Scott (Rose) Foster, Kyle, Courtney and Alesha Foster; eight great grandchildren, Aaron, Jared , Melanie and Zachary Foster, Corbin and Alexis Ketelsen, and Damien and Dominique Anderson She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, Michael, one sister and six brothers.
Virginia was born on Feb. 27, 1926 in Anamosa, the daughter of William and Stella Coleman Johnston. She married Clayton S. Foster on July 5, 1945 in Anamosa. He died in 2000. Virginia was a homemaker. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, especially with her husband to his military reunions, stuffed musical animals and spending time with her beloved family.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Mercy in Virginia’s name.
