James B. McCleary, 39, of 507 East 5th St. in Vinton died Sunday Jan. 25, 2009 at his home after a sudden illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Chaplain Christine Wagner-Hecht will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday.

Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth and a brother Jack, both of Van Horne. He is also survived by an aunt, Lois (John) Novak of Cedar Rapids, an uncle, Jeff Gooding of California, a niece, Kaitlynn and a nephew, Jackson. He was preceded in death by his father.

Jim was born on Dec. 1, 1969 in Charleston, SC, the son of Stephen and Elizabeth Gooding McCleary. He worked at REM for several years. Jim was an advocate of recycling and he enjoyed going for walks and spending time with his family. A memorial fund has been established in Jim’s name.
