Memorial

Raymond E. Glasgow, 91,of 4481 Vasey Avenue, Marion, died at Mercy Medical Center, Wednesday, January 21, 2009, after a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Marion, by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Military services will be by the National Guard . Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.

Survivors include two sons, Rex Glasgow of Marion and Russ (Jackie) Glasgow of Canon City, CO; two grandsons, Aaron and Nathan; and sister, Joan Furgason of Washington who is the last surviving of seven siblings.

Ray was born on June 14, 1917 in Washington, Iowa to Ambrose and Opal Glasgow. He married Rosella Sheets there on November 14, 1945. She died in 2007. Ray was a self-employed union carpenter, retiring in 1997. Ray was an Army veteran of WWII and awarded three Bronze Stars for his involvement in the Battle of The Bulge, Normandy Invasion, and the Liberation of France. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion.
