Memorial
Elmer W. Netolicky, 93, of 209 Josephine Lane NW, died Thursday, January 1, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. Tim Carter of the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Survivors include two sons, Arlo (Joyce) Netolicky and Darrell (Joyce) Netolicky, all of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Roxene (Alma) Burton of Afton, WY and Diane (Arlen) Lindhorst of Palo; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Johnson; and very special companion of 20 years, Pat Houdeshell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona; son Warren; and a great grandson, Luke Cada.
Elmer was born on September 27, 1915 in Western, Iowa to Frank and Anna Stransky Netolicky. He married Leona Kadlec on April 8, 1936 in Iowa City. She died in 1985. Elmer was an auto mechanic for the Schamburger Motor Company and retired in 1978. He was a member of the CSA Lodge Prokop Velky #137, Czech Heritage Foundation, Czech Heritage Singers, Chada Plotz Senior Fellowship and a former member of the Eagles Club #2272. He was also a Czech accordion player in his own band and with others. He played at all the nursing homes in Cedar Rapids with Erma Binko.
A memorial fund has been established.
