** Herbert David Hamre, 78, of 3852 Falbrook Dr. NE. died Saturday Dec. 20. 2008 at his home after an extended illness. Services at 10:30 AM on Saturday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church where there will also be military rites. Friends may call after 9:30 AM on Saturday at the Church. Rev. Phil Jorgensen will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, a daughter, Diane Mathes of Cedar Rapids, a son, Jay (Kathy) of St. Louis, Missouri and a sister, Shirley (Roy) Sather of Holmen, Wisconsin. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Nicole, Amanda, Eric, Sean and Katelyn and a great grandchild, Mandi. He was preceded in death by his parents.
David was born on July 19, 1930 in Gary, Minnesota, the son of Oscar and Inga Pederson Hamre. He married Shirley A. Renne on Oct. 3, 1953 in Rindal, Minnesota. David worked at Rockwell-Collins for 28 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, a local ham radio club and proudly served in the Army.
Memorial donations may be given to Our Saviors Lutheran Church or St. Lukes Hospice. Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post No. 5.
