Marion S. Wiegand, 88, a resident of Manor Care Nursing Home, died there Saturday November 29, 2008 following a long illness. Services will be held at a later date. Her body was cremated. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Kirkland and husband Will of Cedar Rapids, two grandchildren, Steve (Debora) Kirland of Ojai, California and Marc (Ann) Kirland of Champaign, Illinois, five great grandchildren, Benjamin, Becca, Mathias, Kaylee and Jesse.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisiters, Ruth Ann Miller and Junellen Butler and a brother, Wayne Scheuneman.

Marion was born January 25, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Felix Mildred Pressel Scheuneman. Marion was an office manager for a phycian in Chicago, Illinois. After retiring she moved to Cedar Rapids in 1983. She was a member of Women’s League Voters, Cedar Valley Group of the Embroiderers Guild of America and Peoples Unitarian Church, where she was active in the Van Vechten Guild. Marion enjoyed the company and valued the creative time with family and friends. She was a gifted artist who was never without a project to work on. From painting to handcrafts, to miniatures and her favorite counted cross stitch. Marion was a wonderful mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Manor Care Nursing Home and Mercy Hospice for all the loving care they gave her.
