Carolyn A. Fredericksen, 66, of 910 27th St. Marion died Tuesday Nov. 4, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. after an extended illness. Services at 11 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Private family inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday.

Survivors include her husband, Donald, three daughters, Jean (Daniel) Barnd of Mt. Vernon, Peggy Fredericksen and Kim (David) White all of Marion. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Tiffani (Drew), Jason, Chad, Brandon, Haley and her pet dog, Sofie.. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary Lou and two brothers, Steven and David.

Carolyn was born on April 21, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Marven and Bessie Pinch Nielsen. She married Donald Fredericksen on Jan. 16, 1957 in Cedar Rapids. Carolyn worked at Carfrae Meat Co and retired from there after many years of service. She later worked in the deli at Sun Mart in Marion for several years. She was a member of the Marion YMCA and had been a former Cedar Rapids City Bowling Champion. Carolyn enjoyed playing bingo, arts and crafts, scrapbooking, and especially spending time with her many friends and beloved family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Carolyn’s name.
