Matthew "Mr.l33tentrapment" Dias was a great person to speak with. He certainly left a mark on our online community and will be missed greatly. Matt, you were too young to pass on, but God works in mysterious ways. Whatever plans He may have, we all understand you to be in a better place. I am sorry. A little Irish blessing: Go mbeannaí an Tiarna thú agus go gcumhdaí sé thú; Go dtaitní gnúis an Tiarna ort agus go raibh sé caoin leat; Go nochta an Tiarna a ghnúis duit agus go dtuga sé síocháin duit. Dan, Mary and Family, I remember one of the first times, Mary brought Matthew to Roosevelt for a tour before he came as a 6th grader. What a joy. He was full of life and questions. I remember him with a smile on my face because he truly loved to entertain. I know his time with us was short, but if he continued to fill his days the way he did when he was in middle school; his life was full. Matthew was a son to love, and I know he will be missed by many. He did however; leave us with lots of wonderful memories. I enjoyed working with Matthew, and wish to thank you for allowing me to be his counselor.

Dan and Mary, we were very sorry to hear of Matthew's death. Our 18-month-old son, Linus, died 9 months ago of an anaphylactic reaction to wheat. We know what you are going through. You are starting a very long and difficult journey. We want you to know that if you need help, it is out there. We have found comfort in counseling, support groups, and talking to other parents who have lost children. There are two support groups that are available to you--one is in Waterloo (New Hope) and one is in Dubuque (Compassionate Friends). You would probably feel the most comfortable at the Compassionate Friends group because most of the parents have adult children that passed away. Our e-mail address is echalupa@mchsi.com; even though our son was so much younger, you will find that the feelings are the same for all parents who have lost a child.

Dear Gerald and the Dias Famiy, I am saddened to hear of your loss of Matthew at such young age. My memories of Matthew are as a small boy, playing with new puppies on my aunt and uncles' farm. Though I was only a part of the Dias family for a short period of time, that time remains an important part of who I am. Mary, as a mother myself now, my heart breaks for you as you deal with the loss of your child. That is something that I pray about every day. I hope that you can all find peace in your faith and know that Matthew will be looking over you until you can be together again.
