Steven Robert Ongie, 49, of 1506 Fox Trail Drive NE, died at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy on Sunday, October 26, 2008, after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Revs. Paul and Gayle Wilcox of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 10:30 Wednesday at the Chapel.

Survivors include his mother, Arlene Smith of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Bill Ongie, David Ongie, and Scott Ongie, all of Cedar Rapids; sister, Carol Tucker of North Ft. Myers, Florida; and stepmother, Marjorie Ongie-Hall.

Steven was preceded in death by his father.

Steven was born on June 15, 1959 in Ishpeming, Michigan to Charles and Arlene Ongie. He graduated from Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. He was part owner and operator of Cedar Rapids WinPump. Steven was a member of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church and the Otter Creek Gun Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the SICU of the University of Iowa as well as Hospice of Mercy for the wonderful care given to Steven.

Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
