Marian J. Odeen, 87, of 1070 – 28th Street, Marion, died at home, Wednesday, August 13, 2008, after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church by the Rev. William Pugliese. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Survivors include three sons, David Edna Odeen of Anamosa, Harold Geraldine Odeen of Ely, and Harry Lee Linda Odeen of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Susie Marcel Sebetka of Norway, Jeannie Gary Brislawn of Center Point, and Cathie Odeen of Anamosa; two brothers, David Cummings of Fairview, and Don Cummings of Marion; three sisters, Nelda Bettes of Guthrie, OK, Carrie Hart of Tucson, AZ, and Margaret Peiffer of Springville; 20 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; a brother, Richard Williams; a sister, Nancy Cummings; and two grandchildren, Susan Marie and Roger . Marian was born on April 18, 1921 in Fairview, Iowa. She married Harry E. Odeen on September 3, 1938 on the way home from the Iowa State Fair. She and Harry formed the Odeen Band longer ago than her children can remember, leading on the piano, even after Harry's death in 1998. She had previously worked at Killian's Department Store and for over 20 years at Collins Radio. She will be remembered most of all as Mother and Grandmother. Marian liked to go mushrooming, fishing, and loved the times she and her family spent at their cabin on Lake Delhi. The family wants give special thanks to her sister, Carrie Hart for her loving care during Marian's illness. They also want to thank St. Luke's Hospice and Delmar and Bernice Maiden for their friendship and support during the last years as well as her beautician, Anita who picked Marian up every Friday to have her hair done during the last ten years. Instead of flowers, memorials may be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.
