Betty Jean Chehak, 84, 2115 First Ave SE died Monday, October 13, 2008 at Cottage Grove Place following a brief illness. Friends are invited to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday from 5PM to 8PM with an informal service at 7PM. The Rev. James Langley of Westminster Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Surviving are two sons, John C. Chehak (Deborah) of Cedar Rapids and Thomas A. Chehak (Susan) of Los Angles, CA; four grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, John Dean Chehak in 1995.

Betty was born March 15, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska the daughter of Carl T. and Mary (Budin) Bachmann. She married John Dean Chehak on December 21, 1946 in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Cedar Rapids Garden Club, the Junior League and the Ladies Literary Club.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
