Memorial

Gertrud Lewis, 76, 2466 Victoria Dr. SW died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness. Graveside services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 6 PM on Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a memorial service following.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald Lewis and Gordon Lewis both of Cedar Rapids, Daniel Lewis and wife Gwen of Newhall, a daughter, Dyann Bishop and husband Bruce of Keystone, a brother, Ludwig Woelfel of Bayreuth, Germany, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and her special friend Frank Roman of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Doward W. Lewis in 1982.

Gertrud was born November 17, 1931 in Bayreuth, West Germany the daughter of Ludwig and Christine (Seidler) Woelfel. She married Doward W. Lewis in Germany in 1953. He died in 1982. She was an inspector for Cryovac from 1977 until her retirement in 1994. She then worked parttime at Von Maur until her illness.

Gertrud’s family wishes special thanks to St. Luke’s Hospice and Nursing staff for their tender care of her.
