Evelyn M. Wells, 94, of Richardson, TX, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died September 27, 2008 in her daughter's home following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Cedar Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her children Evangeline Cedillo and husband Victor of Cedar Rapids, Joel Wells and wife Barbara of Iowa City, Priscilla Payne and husband John of Richardson, Texas, and Paul Wells and wife Debbie of Agua Dulce, CA. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford, sons Daniel and Benjamin, and daughter Jennifer Crowley of Marion, Iowa.

Evelyn Maxine Wells was born July 29, 1914 in rural Ryan, Iowa the daughter of James A. and Jessie B. Millard Dale. Named after Evelyn Nesbit Thaw by her mother, the first "super-model" in 1901. In addition to her 7 kids, she raised 2 more kids, Richard & George B. between the years of 1960 - 1970. Evy was born and raised on a farm, learned to play the pump organ and the piano by ear while in her teens, and played it all her life. She attended Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Clifford B. Wells on June 23, 1935 at the family home in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1985. For the majority of her life she worked from home caring for her family, as well as babysitting for other families. She was a member of Oakland Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and church activities.
