Memorial
Vida Cephelia Workman, 89, a resident of Keystone Cedars, died there September 26, 2008 due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Gayle Wilcox and Chaplain Mike Patterson will officiate. Visitation will be held 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her three sons Norman Carole of Cedar Rapids, Harold LuRay of Naperville, IL, and Randall friend: Suzanne of Mangilao, Guam; her grandchildren, David Workman partner Eddie of Signal Hill, CA, Michael Angela Workman of Springfield, MO, Mark Susan Workman of Apex, NC., Danielle Szukala of Chicago, ILL., Richard Kristen Workman of Kokomo, Indiana, Laura Jake Taylor of Angola, Indiana, Lynette Charlie Hart of Noblesville, Indiana, Robert Workman of Naperville, ILL. and Sarah Workman partner Kieran of Corvallis, OR; fourteen great-grandchildren: Andrew, Kaitlyn, Josh, Claire, Christopher, Abigail, Lauren, Alexis, Orion, Aidan, Dylan, Laci, Tristan and Jordan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman in 1993; and her brothers Harold, Alfred, and Dana.
Vida was born February 19, 1919 in a sod house near Sorum, SD. She moved to Cedar Rapids in 1934, and was a resident for 74 years. She completed two years at Coe College, and later completed the Chicago School of Interior Design in 1958. She pursued multiple occupations, being a salesperson for World Book Encyclopedia, and Interior Decorator, and a Real Estate Broker. For many years she was active at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church. She enjoyed square dancing, playing bridge, crossword puzzles, crocheting, and time spent with her family. She was a strong believer in the great things an education can bring. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many who will be greatly missed.
