Donald B. Guinnane
My sympathies to my old buddy Pat and all of your family on your loss. Seems everytime I get on the CM website to address a passing, I see someone else I should send a note to.
May God be with you.

To all my cousins,
My heart goes out to all of you for the loss of your dad. He was a very special man, as you all know, and I always looked forward to a visit with Uncle Don. We had some good times together when I would come out to visit and help when Jane and Eileen were born. My favorite memory was the morning your Mom was coming home with the new baby and we had to get everyone dressed. Your dad dumped the laundry basket of clean clothes on the bed and said "make sure it matches and don't tell your aunt how we did this!" Another memory which stayed with me when I was raising my kids was talking at the dinner table - your dad would ask and answer questions from all of you, get out books (and one time a globe) to show you what he was talking about, and all the time everyone keep on eating along with the history, geography and whatever else came up. I know you will all miss him but your memories of him will always be special. Love, Carrie

Guinnane Family:
It is rarely apparent how many lives a family member has touched until they are gone. I started my career as the assistant business manager at Grant Wood AEA in 1982, and then as the business manager for the Marion School District from 1985-1988. As a "neophyte" to the world of school business, I looked to other local school district executives to help me understand what I had gotten myself into. Don was one of many local school folks who helped me numerous times in "learning the ropes" in the world of school finance. Don was looked upon by many in the state as one of the experts in school finance, yet he was never too busy to "help a young kid out". I have not seen Don in many years, but instantly recognized his picture in the paper. I am saddened by his death, but will remember him with fondness for all the things he did for me early on in my career. My condolences to your family.

For the family, please accept our condolences. Don was of great help when at the Cedar Rapids Schools. Don was fun to spend a couple hours with counting money at All Saints Church. His humor was definitely that of an accountant. I will miss Don.
