Donald B. Guinnane, 82, of Cedar Rapids died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Providence Place in Minneapolis, Minnesota following a lengthy illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at All Saint's Catholic Church by The Rev. David O'Connor. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday from 3PM to 7PM, with a Vigil Service at 4:00 PM.
Survivors include two sons, Patrick A. Guinnane Frances of Philadelphia, PA and Timothy W. Guinnane of New Haven, CT; three daughters, Mary Beth McCaughey Bill of Sugar Land, TX, Jane E. Guinnane of St. Paul, MN and Eileen Holzemer Tom of Lakeville, MN; two sisters, Maxine Woodall Jim of Fairview, IL and Lorraine Evans Edwin of Winchester, IL; and five grandchildren, Michael, Ian, Katie, Dan and Conrad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Kathleen; and a sister, Mary Ellen.
Donald was born March 30, 1926 in Scott County, Illinois, the son of Frank A. and Gladys Hanback Guinnane. He married Dorothy M. Hochstetter on May 8, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. Donald was an accountant for Cherry-Burrell from 1948 to 1970 and was the Director of Finance for the Cedar Rapids Community School District from 1970 to 1989. He was a member of All Saint's Catholic Church, where he did volunteer work, Habitat for Humanity and the Indian Creek Nature Center. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Donald enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and fishing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa.
