Charles H. Vyskocil

I worked at WFLA from Oct. 1987 to May 1996 as receptionist and also in the Premium Collection / Service Departments. Charlie would come in every once in a while and was ready with a story, or just to chat. He always had a sparkle in his eye. I can think of no one who did not enjoy his visits, as he would go around and talk to all. On occasion, we would receive a note or letter written in Czech. We would call Charlie and he would come in and translate for us. One time we got a two or three page letter, and when he saw it he said he'd just take it home and bring it back in a couple days. Wonder if he had to check a dictionary for some help? I was sorry to see his obituary in the paper, but when I read he had a long illness preceding death, I figured he was probably ready to go. He was always so full of life, active, and gladly doing something to help. He was a wonderful person, and I'm sure he will be missed by many, many peaple.

Mr.V had a positive influence on my life as my Scout Master. Memories I have treasured for 50 years. There will never be a troop of Boy Scouts like those in troop 26 at old Van Buren school.

I was a member of Scout Troop 26 with Chuck and Dick and Mr. V was our Scoutmaster. Mr. V had a strong and positive influence on me in those important growing years. I know he was a positive influence on a large number of young men in Scouting. I share your sorrow at his passing after a long and very positive life. Bill Brown

Bruce and I lived on Haven Court SW, across the street from Don and Irene Coufal, who were like parents to us and is how we met Chuck. Chuck and Irene would frequently visit at Don and Irene's and we often crossed the street to see them. One of our fondest memories is of Chuck and Don's yearly fishing trip with their friends to Canada, which they planned for weeks. Each year they would load up the motorhome early in the morning and we would all give them a send off. Always enjoyed all the stories Chuck and Don told of their trips. Chuck was always a "joyful" person and we have many good memories of him. Bruce & Kathy Eckerman
