Memorial

Kenneth R. York, 71, of 1680 Hillview Dr., Marion, died unexpectedly Wednesday, January 1, 2003, in his home. Services 10 AM Monday in First Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Timothy Carter and Rev. Forrest Whitlatch will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday and at the Church after 9:30 AM on Monday.
Survivors include his wife Gwendolyn, a daughter LaDonna Delling and husband Dave of Oklahoma City, Okla., two sons Frank York and wife Rhonda of Pella, Iowa, and Kenneth L. York and wife Debby of Cedar Rapids, three sisters Minnie Underwood and Valere Shepherd both of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Alma Whitlow of Modesto, California, and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, Marvin, David, Jodie, and Chester.
Kenneth was born October 29, 1931 in Array, New Mexico, to John and Bessie Barker York. He married Gwendolyn G. Lea on May 1, 1953 in Pueblo, Colorado. Ken worked as an accountant at Rockwell-Collins retiring in 1995. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1960 and served with the US Army during the Korean War.
In life Ken was a loving husband and devoted father. His contagious spirit of love and zeal for adventure will always be remembered by those who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends as he embarks on the greatest adventure of all-eternal life in the presence of his Saviour.
