Sherry Gail Penick
To Sherry's family,
Hi, Keri, I was your elementary music teacher at Bowman Woods. I have many fond memories of your Mom, tiny as she was, picking up those chairs after our concerts. She was a little spitfire and yet so caring and empathetic to others. Once she put her mind to something, there was no stopping her.
I wish I could take away some of your grief - it is a journey and the prayers of others will help carry you through.
With fond memories of you, Keri, and your family....Mrs. Diane (Ehlinger) Beach, Still having fun as Music Teacher at Bowman Woods

John and Keri,
I was shocked to read about Sherry's passing in the DNR online. At the time, I was in VA Beach staying very close to the house where Sherry and I lived in the summer of 1974. John, I am sorry that I missed your phone call, I was in VA. Beach.
I remember many years of fun with all of you and my heart goes out to you as you cope with losing Sherry and the grief that follows.

With the passing of my dear sister, Sherry, I am deeply saddened by her loss to the world. Her strength and being while in the physical world among us and then her sudden breaking away from this existence serves as a profound awakening to the fragility of all human existence.
While here amongst us, she was dearly loved and respected and will be significantly missed for the heartfelt contributions she gifted to us.
May she have a safe and wonderful journey to the other side of the veil. Uplifted in some way towards understanding the entire process, may this being return once again, as Benjamin Franklin believed, the wiser for it.

My friend Sherry...it seems just a short while ago I could see Sherry in her back yard meticulously tending and weeding her beautiful garden. My yard was a blank slate –how I wished I could create a garden like hers. With Sherry's encouragement, knowledge and help before long my garden grew! And so did our friendship. Sherry was passionate about many things and soon I was hooked on some of her favorites. She loved the color blue, Martha Stewart, Emeril Lagasse, HGTV and finding a great bargain. Sherry was a nurturer of children, friendships, gardens, animals, anything that could grow usually did with her love and care. She gave of herself and never expected anything in return. I'll miss our long late night phone conversations, trying to solve the world's problems and our own. Sherry was beautiful inside and out. Her physical stature was deceiving – her inner strength was unbelievable! She could be very stubborn too, but that's another story. She always made me laugh! I learned a lot about life from my friend, I'm blessed to have known her and will miss her.
John and Keri, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Love Ellen

Beautiful Sherry. All the boys loved her. Passionate Sherry. Always wearing her feelings on her sleeve. Loving Sherry. Caring for her family, her friends ... everyone but herself. Strong Sherry. Protecting Matthew during his short sweet life, keeping his memory alive after his death. Wonderful cook, magical grower of plants, perfect gin and tonic maker. Time, distance, and busy lives never diminished my love for and admiration of my friend. I'll meet you on the other side.
My thoughts are with you John and Keri Anne.

If you had Sherry as a friend consider yourself blessed; God gave you a gift. Sherry wrapped herself & gave you her heart, ALONG WITH A LOT OF LECTURES:), that usually ended with I love you. Those parting words at the end of a phone call or after spending time together had a calming & soothing affect. For what Sherry can no longer do for us on earth she will now take care of from heaven. We will continue to be blessed by her presence.

There is no way to convey our sorrow for the loss of a wife and mother. Know that Heather and I are thinking of you, John and Keri, constantly. I will be in Houston until the beginning of September, when I return I think we should plant a tree or some perennials that Shery would have liked. Life has thrown you some lemons, lets make lemonade OR throw them back! Whichever feels better ;-)
