Memorial
Yvonne E. Arnold, 73, 332 Carter St. NW went to the Lord after a long courageous battle with cancer with her family at her side on Monday, August 18, 2008 at her home. Services: 1:00 P.M. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Chaplain Kim Vogul of Hospice of Mercy will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4PM to 6PM. Surviving in addition to her husband Toby are three daughters, Terri Mirkes of Hanover Park, IL, DeAnn Smith Brent of Corpus Christi, TX and Connie Franck Dennis of Cedar Rapids; a son, Donald Arnold of Cedar Rapids; her mother-in-law, Arlene Arnold of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, and a sister, Arlene Copus of Cedar Rapids. Yvonne was born on October 22, 1934 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Don and Ellen Lincolnback Wolleat. She married Toby Arnold on January 29, 1954 in Cedar Rapids. Yvonne worked at Rockwell Collins and for Klein Tools. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Hawkeye Touring Motorcycle Club. She was a loving, compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law and friend. She was generous with her love and kind to everyone she touched. She gave generously to charity. She loved animals, especially her dogs and gave generously to many animal charities as well. Yvonne was devoted to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. At the very end she still had her sense of humor, and was worried more about everyone she was leaving behind than fearful for herself. Yvonne loved her many years of traveling across country by motorcycle with Toby and friends from Hawkeye Touring Motorcycle Club. The family would like to send out special thanks to our Hospice friends: Kevin Kramer, Cindy Staton, Kim Vogul and Amanda Drey who made such a difference in all our lives. They brought kindness, laughter and love to our home at the most difficult of times. Yvonne loved each of them in a very special way. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Mercy.
