Memorial
Edward Lee Longfellow, 67, of 888 Center Point Rd NE, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008, in his home following a short illness. Services at 11 AM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Private inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Friday and at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Saturday. Survivors include a son Jeffery Karie Longfellow of Cedar Rapids, three daughters Dana Longfellow of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Kimberly James Martyn of Jacksonville, Florida, and Michelle Richard Burnell of Pt. Orford, Oregon, two sisters Joyce Stewart of Vinton and Mary Bernard Cejka of Hiawatha, a brother Murray Charlotte Longfellow Jr. of Marengo, Iowa, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his special friend Rose Locke. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda, and two infant sisters Charlotte Evelyn, and Grace Delores. Edward was born April 15, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa to Murray H. and Grace VanVelkenburg Longfellow Sr. He first married Charlotte Pease. They divorced. He then married Linda who later died. He was a Union machinist for Universal Engineering for 38 years. He was a member of the Machinist Union #831, enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, and was a practical joker. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
