Memorial
Wilma E. Kauten, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died August 27, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September, 2, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Donald Klein of St. Pius X Catholic Church will officiate. Friends may call from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a rosary will take place at 4:30 PM that evening. Interment will take place at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Fairbank, Iowa at 3:00 PM.
Survivors include her children Patricia Haas and husband Norm of Cassville, WI, Robert Kauten and wife Joan of Cedar Rapids, Wayne Kauten and wife Diane of Omaha, NE, Paul Kauten and wife Theresa of Sheldon, Kathryn Stanard and husband Robert of Prairieburg, Raymond Kauten and wife Amy of Postville, Mary Shields of Virginia, and Jim Kauten and wife Rosemary of Alura, Minnesota. She is also survived by 22 grand children, 6 step grandchildren, 24 great-grand children, 4 step great-grandchildren; brothers Oscar of Wisconsin, Clifford and Emil Harold both of Oregon; as well as many nieces and nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, son-in-law John Shields, an infant daughter, and brothers and sisters Elnor, Ruebin, Berdina, Henrietta, and Loretta.
Wilma Emma Kauten was born March 3, 1918 in Millville, Iowa the beloved daughter of Henry and Erma Franks Weidemann. She was united in marriage to Henry Kauten on November 30, 1940 in Wisconsin. She was employed for several years in food service at Coe College. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, and also was a member of the Golden Age group at the church. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends at the Five Seasons Senior Housing, and especially enjoyed craft work. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
