We will always remember the times when you drove out to be with family. Richie especially remembers you both driving out from Iowa in your Trans Am. What great stories. We will miss him dearly. He was a good and wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Love you all. Rich, Geri, Rick and Gregg

My grandfather was a wonderful person. Some of the fondest memories I have are of family gatherings with gramps. He always was eager to go to a family party especially Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. You will be missed grandpa. I love you very much.

I have such wonderful memories of Mr. Young and his family. Growing up as neighborhood girl, there was nothing better than playing at the Young's house. It was there that I first learned about pizza! Truely a warm, caring man and wonderful neighbor. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Sincerely, Holly Crocker Kortum Jerry and Mae Crocker

As a childhood friend of MaryAnn, I spent a lot of time at the Young's house. Whenever it was dark outside, Mr. Young would always walk me up Elmwood Dr. and my mom or dad would walk me down the hill to my house on Elmwood Dr. Donald was always concerned for me and always kind. I thought is was SO neat that he worked at Quaker Oats and MaryAnn had all the cool cereal toys. His death brings much sadness to me, but I know that Donald and my Dad, Wallace Perkins, are meeting "up the street" in heaven now. I would love to receive an e-mail from MaryAnn. I heard she is teaching and would love to share teaching stories with her!

I was always amazed at the energy Don had. One summer about 18 yrs ago Don and I got on a hiking kick. We decided to hike the Cedar Valley nature trail between Cedar Rapids and Center Point. An ambitious trek of 13.2 mi. I showed up at our first outing with proper gear of Nike shoes and walking shorts. Don came in dress slacks and street shoes. And Don set the pace as I had a heck of a time trying to keep up with him for the entire hike. Since two heads are better than one we put ours together and decided since this was a long distance we should take a car to Center Point and drive the other back to Cedar Rapids and start our hike there and when we got to Center Point we would have a car to drive back. We did this a couple of times before we figured out that it would be much easier to just start at Cedar Rapids and walk half way and turn around and come back. Don always got upset if I wore my walkman radio because I couldnt' hear what he had to say. I swear he didn't shut up for the entire hike. We had a lot of fun doing that as well as golfing and bowling together. I'll miss you Buddy!
