Elizabeth "Betty" Groff, 77, formerly of Marion, died Thursday July 24, 2008 in Ridgecrest Health Center, Davenport, following a long illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. William B. Harnish. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m until 4:00 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, James D. Groff, a daughter, Carolyn A. Waugh and husband David of Davenport, a brother, David Mitchell and wife Madeline of Solon, two grandsons, Heath Holub and wife Jennifer of Mt. Vernon and Beau Holub and wife Allison of Tipton and 5 great grandchildren, Lincoln, Zatyk, Landon, Gage and Ethan.
Her parents, a sister, Ann Toms and a nephew, Trenton Toms preceded her in death.
Elizabeth was born April 11, 1929 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of James and Anna Mercer Mitchell She married James D. Groff on May 20, 1950 in Cedar Rapids. Elizabeth worked for National Oats Company in Cedar Rapids for 18 years. Her joy in life was spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.
