Memorial

Wallace Leroy DeWoody, 72, 325 3rd Ave, Marion died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M. Friday at First Lutheran Church where a gathering will be held on Thursday from 6PM to 8PM. The Rev. Daniel Kolander and The Rev. Kay Slocum of First Lutheran Church will officiate. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Janet; two sons, Bradley DeWoody Bonnie of Marion and Todd W. DeWoody Emily of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida; four daughters, Julie Rosenberg Karl of Cedar Rapids, Tamara Drexler Dan of Swisher, Gwendolin Garretson Todd of Ellendale, Minnesota and Mollie Grosse Shane of Denver, Iowa; his grandchildren, Maddy, Lucy and Fritz Rosenberg; Karlie and Kasey Drexler; Quenten Chastity Offerman and James Offerman; Ashley, Brooke, Joshua and Chalsea Garretson; Bobbie and Bo Grosse; Kaitlyn, Kaydence, and Cooper DeWoody; Landen Gordon; and Mya DeWoody; a great grandson, Hunter Offerman; a sister, Betty Higgins Harold of Hiawatha; and a brother, Gerald DeWoody of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Wallace was born March 4, 1936 in Coggon the son of John and Nina Cooper DeWoody. He was a 1958 graduate of Cornell College. He was employed with the Marion School System for many years. Wallace was a skilled craftsman, enjoyed the outdoors and loved large family gatherings at his home. He was a member of First Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church Flood Relief Fund.
