Alvin Dewayne Jones, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died June 30, 2008 at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Elizabeth; his children Robert Jones and wife Pam of Solon, Raymond Jones and wife Phyllis of Cedar Rapids, Rose Bents and husband Donald of Cedar Rapids, and Phil Jones and wife Joan of Amana. Also surviving are his brother Gene Jones and wife Marie of Wenatchee, WA, his sister Donna Welsh of Iowa City, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Marion Jones, and a brother-in-law Leo Welsh.

Alvin Dewayne Jones was born April 12, 1930 in Troy Township, Iowa County, Iowa to Clarence and Barbara Tuttle Jones. He had received his GED from Kirkwood Community College, which he was very proud of. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth M. McHugh on June 23, 1957 in Logan, Iowa. He had worked for Electro Coating for many years. He enjoyed reading, and listening to country music. He will be fondly remembered, but greatly missed by those left to grieve his passing.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Alvin's name.
