Jamie Dale Gerdts, 38, of 1655 Ellis Blvd. NW, died at St. Luke's Hospital on Sunday, June 29, 2008. Memorial Services: 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ Episcopal Church by the Rev. Dr. Barbara Schlachter. A gathering will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Survivors include his wife and soulmate, Sherry; his son, Thomas at home; a brother, Darren Gerdts of Marshalltown; parents, Dale and Ann Gerdts of Walker; his In-Laws, Peg and Charlie Greene and Mike Jagielski, all of Cedar Rapids; grandmother and aunt, Joan Maschek and Carole Moore, both of New Zealand; and his brother-in-law, Jeff Jagielski and his daughter, Courtney, of Cedar Rapids; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jamie was preceded in death by his grandmother, Vivian Loulow.

Jamie was born on May 8, 1970 in Biloxi, MS to Dale and Ann Gerdts. He graduated from Alburnett High School. He married Sherry Jagielski on August 9, 1997 in Cedar Rapids. He was a technician for Camden Amusement. Jamie was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, the Hawkeye Area Grand Gaelic Isles Society Haggis. He loved hill climbing with his motorcycle and playing drums. Jamie was known for his infectious smile and laugh. He was the love of Sherry's life and was so proud of his son Thomas and all his accomplishments; especially skateboarding. Jamie was an active parent in Thomas' skateboarding group and was known as a favorite skateboarding "Dad". He gave his all to family and friends and was known for his big heart – in life and in death, as he was an organ donor. Jamie will be missed by all who knew him.
