Memorial

Beulah I. Potter, 90, of 1717 Ellis Blvd. NW, died At St. Luke's Hospital Thursday, June 19, 2008, after a brief illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Beth Mary Straw of St. James United Methodist Church. Burial: 2 p.m. Woodland Cemetery, Lynnville, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Rev. Marlene Brown of Macedonia; her son, Charles Potter of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Kenneth Brown, and Matthew, Jamie, and Rachel Potter; six great grandchildren; and her niece and nephew, Doris Hager and Ivan Zabilka.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; a brother and his wife, J. Harvey and Marion Zabilka; a grandson, Mark Brown; and a great nephew, Steven Hager.

Beulah was born on August 15, 1917 in rural Indianapolis, Iowa to John and Tillie Zabilka. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School. Beulah married Marvin Potter on July 2, 1939 in Oskaloosa. Beulah and Marvin spent most of their marriage in Cedar Rapids where they both worked in their family music business. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was involved in United Methodist Women and various church activities. She enjoyed numerous crafts such as sewing, quilting, painting, knitting, and cooking.
