Memorial
Rayford Keith Larson, 80 beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away June 14, 2008 at Northbrook Manor Care Center after a long illness. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at First United Methodist Church of Marion. Rev. Mike Morgan will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM, Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years Catherine Dahn; his three children Victoria Wright Tim of Carol Stream, IL, Steven Larson Karyn of Memphis, TN, and Thomas Larson Jody of Fort Worth, TX, and his three grandchildren Christopher Beem Amy of Davenport, Jennifer Wright, and Amanda Wright of Carol Stream, IL, and a brother Wayne Larson Doris of Cedar Rapids.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Neal and Retta Larson, a sister Norma Knight Meredith, and an infant sister.
Ray served in the United States Army during World War II, with U.S. Forces, European Theater in Vienna, Austria, received Victory Medal, and the Army Medal of German Occupation. He was employed in the plumbing and heating profession in Springville, Iowa; owning businesses in Springville and Cedar Rapids. He also worked as a mechanical contractor in Cedar Rapids, and most recently a retired property appraiser. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Marion, the East Side Kiwanis, and the Elks Lodge #251. Ray enjoyed camping, traveling, watching sports, NASCAR racing, and the Chicago Cubs.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Northbrook Manor Care Center.
Memorial contributions in Ray's honor may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Marion, the Elks Lodge #251, Cedar Rapids, and St. Luke's Hospice, Cedar Rapids.
