Memorial
Ruth Florence Carolina Wendt Fall passed away on May 26, 2008 after a long illness under Iowa Hospice care.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be at the First United Methodist Church of Marion on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA. Lunch will be served in the Fellowship Hall at the United Methodist Church of Marion following the burial services.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Karen Kay Jackson John of Tampa, FL; 3 grandchildren, Teresa Jackson Fields Tom of Cedar Rapids, Barry Jackson Tracey of Tampa, FL, Ronald R. Fall Tara of San Diego, CA., and Douglas A. Fall of Lisbon. She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren, Kortnee Holley Van Valkenburgh Tampa, Kaycee Holley Cedar Rapids, Zachary and Matthew Jackson Tampa, Stephanie and Jessica Nurre Marion, Ana Elise and Kylee Fall San Diego, CA, and Abbigale Fall Lisbon; a sister, Lucile Kessler Dubuque, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harland in 2005, one son, Lonny Ray in 1995, her parents, Ernest and Lillian Neese Wendt, and one sister Florence Kratoska.
Ruth was born August 5, 1925 in Clarence, IA to Ernest and Lillian Wendt. She graduated from Olin High School in 1943, and married Harland the same year during World War II. They had celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2005. She lived in the Olin area for 44 years, was an active member in the Evangelical United Brethern Church and Olin Chapter of Pythian Sisters. They moved to Marion, in 1968, became an active member of Marion First United Methodist Church, held offices in United Methodist Women; Mary, Rebekah, & Miriam Circles for many years, and served on many committees. She was an avid craftsman and shared her talents throughout her life with numerous organizations. Ruth was employed at Rockwell Collins for 33 years retiring in 1985, continuing with volunteer work. She was active with Christian Women's Clubs, Friendship Club, New Encounters, and Retirees Luncheon group that have met for 20 years. Her many hobbies were arts and crafts, traveling, porcelain dolls, family heirlooms, antique dishes, and her flower garden and interior decorating. She loved to work crossword puzzles plus any other puzzles.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She gave her all for everyone and lived each day to the fullest, showing courage, faith and love for her family and friends. She will truly be missed and be in our memories forever. Her smile will always be with us.
A memorial fund has been established.
