Memorial

Henry H. "Sonny" Kuelper Jr., 79, of 110 27th Ave Dr. SW, died April 18, 2008, in his home following a long illness. Services at 3 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Entombment with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday and at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Wednesday.

Survivors include a daughter Diana Robertson and husband Martin of Robins, two sons David Kuelper and wife Annette of Independence, and Jim Sorensen and wife Sheila of Marion, grandchildren, Stacy Fields, Justin Fields and wife Nicole, Kelly, Jenni, and Jake Robertson, Ali Winn, Jim Minnick and wife Vanessa, Tami Soukup and husband Lonnie, Tara Chesmore and husband Larry, Alicia White and husband Brian, and Tracy Sorensen and fiancé William, nine great grandchildren, sister Sally Croumbaugh and husband Willis of Cedar Rapids, brother David Rusk of Jewel, Iowa, and his lifelong friend Bob Bartlett of Hiawatha.. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father VE Rusk, and 2 sisters LaDonna Beck and Lillian Bader.

Sonny was born on November 2, 1928 in Tama, Iowa to Henry and Leota Chamberlain Kuelper. He married Donna Joens on March 20th, 1954 in Belle Plaine, Iowa. She died April 18, 1996. He served in the Army during the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart. When he was discharged from the military he started working on the railroad with his step-father VE Rusk and retired from the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Tama FOE, Iowa DAV, and Lifetime member of VFW Post 788. He enjoyed life, his family and friends.

Sonny will be missed by all.
